How to pursue your passion?
How to follow your dreams?
How to follow your heart?
Why not give up on your dreams?
While checking different forums, I saw many people were asking these questions. And, all of them were ready to make a change in their life. They just wanted a proper direction.
In order to solve their genuine problem, I asked various Self-Development experts this question:
“What 3 tips would you give to follow a dream life?”
Before starting this motivational elephant post, I want to thank all the experts from the bottom of my heart for taking out time to share their wonderful tips. In the end, I have summarized the views of all the experts
Responses listed in the order they were received in:

Take the time to truly understand what makes you happy. Not just what ‘should’ make you happy, but what does make you happy.
Do the upfront work to know the exact steps/process you will need to get where you want to go
Take action. Lingering in the theoretical will get you nowhere. Though it’s scary, taking the plunge even if it’s a baby step will take you miles towards achieving happiness.

Know what the dream is.
Be completely rational and logical about how to achieve it.
Do not compromise on the critical pieces, but compromise like crazy on the non-critical pieces.

Educate yourself. Learn. Continuously. Ignorance kills, literally. Do whatever you can to learn and never stop learning.
Take care of other people. Be of service to others. The real source of all the good you’ll experience in life comes from other people. Cherish that source. Take good care of it so it will never, ever dry out.
Improvise. You will never know what life will throw at you. Yes, you may be able – to some extent – to pick your battles, but you will win some and you will lose some. Be always prepared to move forward and keep moving forward.”

I only have one tip, and that is to start listening to your inner GPS, your inner authority. We all have something within that guides us through life. Many try to live life through their minds. They try to make logical decisions, but it doesn’t work.
The first step to listening to your inner authority is to simply start noticing what goes on in your body. This doesn’t mean you listen to your cravings. No, your inner GPS is often more subtle than that. It’s like a gentle breeze on a warm summer day.
You don’t notice it unless you’re paying attention. If you’ve lived your whole life in your head, it may take time to re-connect with your body. That’s okay. There’s no right way to do this. All you have to do is be willing to listen.
Everything starts from there. This is how I live my life. I gain clarity through my body. There’s intelligence there. And it’s immensely practical, because I’ve seen the results in my own life. If you’re trying to make decisions from your mind, you’re going to end up confused, afraid, and anxious.
So experiment with following your inner GPS. Start with small things, like choosing books to read, websites to visit, and so on. Notice what feels magnetic to you. What is pulling you right now?”

Think the most important thing is to be to true to yourself and accept yourself as you are, with the flaws and the weaknesses. The moment we stop striving to be good, perfect or socially acceptable and just accept ourselves as we are, half the battle is won because half of our life is spent in disapproving and criticizing ourselves.
The second most important tip is to do things with enthusiasm or not do them at all. Most of our life is wasted in following goals we do not truly believe in. Enthusiasm and passion are a must if we wish to achieve anything worthwhile in our life, be it a job, a degree, a good relationship or a healthy body.
And the most important tip I found handy in life is to always have a long term vision. We sometimes get so stuck in our tunnel vision that we get too unmotivated by small problems and difficulties in life not realizing that a few months down the line, the present problems would not even exist.

Don’t follow ‘a dream life’. Words (and semantics) are important; a dream suggests an idea is unreal or improbable. Not so. Sleeping, especially lucid dreaming, brings out clues that you can use to take action on.
Define what you want as accurately as possible. “I want to be successful and wealthy” is NOT good enough. What does “successful” mean to you? What does “wealthy” mean to you? If you cannot answer that in detail, you’re not going to get it. Sorry.
If you do not set the premises correctly, you will end up with an incorrect conclusion–and waste time.
Find 3 people who have–or at least symbolize–what you want. Study people from all walks of life who’ve managed to accomplish unlikely and interesting things. Pick up on their strategies (long-term plans) and processes (how they execute on these plans each day).Take notes and make lists. Create a commonplace where you store all your best information.
Distil your studies down to actionable ideas. After you have studied these 3 (or more) successful people, you should see some patterns and commonalities–or inspiring ideas–that you can use to achieve now (or in the close future) what they have achieved.

It’s absolutely mandatory that you surround yourself with people who want to help you see your goals through. 80% of people don’t care about your goals, and the other 20% of people are threatened by your dream and would rather see you fail. Your circle of influence will constantly be there to give you the gentle reminders to persist and keep on marching forward through the guaranteed dark times ahead.
You need to cultivate motivation/inspiration for your dream on a daily. We all have a story going on in our heads and usually it is of the negative variety. In order to interrupt this negative chatter you need to set aside even as little as 20 minutes a day to read something inspirational.
It’s all about creating new belief about yourself. Most of you hold incredibly low beliefs about yourselves that have clearly defined your reality. The sooner you centre your day with the concept ‘Posibility’, the sooner you will be able to free yourselves from your limiting beliefs!
Be of service to others. Remember that no dream was every accomplished alone. A wise man once told me that I could obtain anything I wanted in life, if only I would help enough other people get what they wanted as well! The amount of energy and power that will be afforded to you by helping others will never be matched by the means self propulsion.

To live a dream life the first thing you have to do is figure out what your dream life looks like. A lot of people think it is about having a big fancy house, with a nice car and sitting on the beach, but when you really sit down to think about it, it comes down to the questions what would make you feel most happy and fulfilled. When you figure out that question then the next steps become a little easier.
When you know what would truly make you happy and fulfilled then you have a goal. So now, there are steps in-between your life at the moment and your dream life. What is the first step you need to take to reach that dream life, it could be going to university to get a degree, it could be setting up a website, it could be applying for that job you’ve always wanted. But, there are steps to get there, and as long as you think about it methodically, you can take one step at a time to reach that goal, or your dream life.
The third tip is to never ever ever ever give up or settle for second best. Some of my friends have stayed in the corporate world simply because it pays good money and the job has a good pension plan, but they are still not happy and fulfilled, and that’s fine for some people.
However if you want to have your dream life you’ve got to realise that there are risks to be taken, and you have to weigh up the possible outcomes i.e. what is the risk to reward ratio? If you have weighed up the risks and you want to go for it, put your heart and soul into it and reach out to as many people in your niche as possible, because you need other people to help you bridge the gap between your life just now and your dream life.

Know what you really want and re-evaluate that constantly. You can’t expect to be living your dreams if you’re not honest with yourself about your dreams or you wake up one day and you realize you’re living the dreams you thought you should have.
Be brave. It takes guts to go after your dreams.
Don’t let anything stop you. As cliche as that may sound these days, it’s true. It won’t just be other people. It will be your own attitude, it will be distraction, it will be fear, weakness, lack of clarity. Whenever you make a mis-step, just dust yourself off and keep going. It doesn’t matter that you fell, you have to keep going because a dream life isn’t a destination, it’s the pursuit of something that’s important to you.

Do you have some hidden dreams and ideas that you never talk about?
Dreams that seem just too big, too difficult and too daunting to make them happen?
You see, there are really three stages:
Dream, Plan, and Take Action.
The most difficult transition is to go from Dream to Plan because fear holds us back.
Here are 3 strategies that will help you go from Dream to Plan:
- Speak about your dream. But make sure you speak to people who will be sympathetic. After all, you are growing a bud – and buds wither easily in the frost.
- Gather a small group of peoplearound you to discuss your idea further. For example, I’ve chosen three of my senior Zen students. I’ve already talked with 2 of them and they’ve come up with some great ideas and questions.
- Set a time frame. This will keep you on track.
If YOU have a dream, don’t delay – use these three strategies to go from Dream to Plan.

First, get really clear on what your dream life will look like. Go beyond surface level here. Really dig down deep and get a vision you can carry with you and go back to ongoing. If you want to live out your dream life you’re going to have to commit to an ongoing effort to work towards whatever it is your vision looks like. Autopilot just isn’t going to happen.
Second, once you have a clear mental picture of what you want to achieve you’re going to have to understand that what you do day in and day out is ultimately going to determine what you achieve, as well as what you don’t. You are not guaranteed anything in life. Friend, it really is up to you to do what’s necessary to see your dream life become a reality. After all, the key term here is “your dream life.”
You have to identify the actions that as you take them are the most likely to lead to your desired outcome. Realize that being intentional and taking action are critical if you’re going to get where you want to go in life.
Thirdly, as I said above you have to be committed to the long game. You will inevitably grow as you move along your life’s journey.

Discover what your passion is and what your strengths are and start working at the intersection of them. Where your passion meets your strengths.
Get really clear on what your dream life would be like. What would it feel like? How and where would you wake up each morning? You have to know which direction you’re heading in, in order to actually get there.
Love unconditionally, especially when you’ve been hurt in the past. Not expressing your love is the biggest fault you can make in life. It can be hard sometimes, but my guess is that your dream life contains lot’s of love. In order to receive it, you first have to give it, ever so generously.

Start a blog. It will allow you to meet like minded people, establish your brand and expertise and open up doors that wouldn’t exist otherwise.
Take a trip. Often breaking out of a stagnant routine can be exactly what you need to actually start taking action on your dream life. While working as a financial analyst I took a trip to Brazil for Carnival – less than a year later I’d left my job and moved to Thailand. Be consistent. It’s going to take
Be consistent. It’s going to take time to build out the lifestyle you want. So whichever direction you pursue business/career wise, be consistent with it. Take time to be quiet and allow your intuition to give you a nudge into a direction.

Create a roadmap:
A dream will always be only that until you create a plan to reach it. Dreams are great to inspire you but having goals is the only way to actually effect any change.
- goals are things you will act on.
- goals produce results
- goals have deadlines
- goals require work
Set time aside every day.Only practice makes perfect. If you want to achieve your dream life, you will have to work on it every single day. It takes time and effort to achieve anything worthwhile. There is no easy path to success or a magic pill to get everything you desire. The only way to succeed is to set aside time, every single day, to work toward your goal, study, practice and work at it.
Don’t be afraid of failure. Failure will happen. The path to success is not a straight shot. There will be ups and downs. The very best way to learn and grow is to take the lessons of failure and use them as a tool to grow rather than letting them hold you back.

Know why you’re chasing your dreams, and tie that reason to freeing yourself.

Have the courage to fail. Nobody likes to make mistakes. It is painful to fail, which is why we try to avoid it desperately. After all, isn’t it better not to risk anything than to accept the slight possibility of failing? I say no. Failing is an integral aspect of life. It is necessary.
A child that never falls down does not learn how to get back on its feet. The same holds true for failing. If you never fail, you’re missing out important growth opportunities. Failing is never easy and often times very painful. But more often than not there is an important lesson that you can learn from it.
Have a vision. What exactly is your dream? If you want to pursue your dream you need to know exactly what this dream is. Are you dreaming of a lot of money and a big house? These tangible things might motivate some to work really hard, but this motivation can turn quickly into frustration if one is not able to reach one’s goals fast enough.
Instead of focusing your dream life around tangibles I say center your dream life around a vision. There might come the day where you no longer want to get up to work for a Ferrari. But there will never be the day where you cease doing what you do until you see your vision realized on this planet.
Be curious like a cat. When you are born you know nothing about this world. You grow up and you learn a little bit here and there. The more you learn about this world that you’re living the more easier it is for you to center your life around the dream that is really worth pursuing. Ignorant dreams are the result of ignorance.

Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. You’ll be surprised to see that there’s something far far better than you ever imagined. After a successful career in the corporate world, I was depressed over the job market depression when I wanted to get back to work after a two-year hiatus following my marriage and having a baby. It hurt to think that I could no longer think of sales, marketing, training in a full time job, as I knew it.
Several interviews later, I realized that I was either overqualified or too old at 35. One word changed my life and my outlook – “freelance”. It helped me explore my abilities – talents – and I saw my career in a whole new light. What’s more, I could work from home in my pajamas – although I didn’t – and be there for my family. Today, I am one happy freakin’ Mama who loves what she does…and does what she loves.
Point is – dream and follow your passion even if it means saying goodbye to your tried and tested routine.
Learn something new every day Be open to new experiences and always be ready to build your knowledge and skill bank. In my line of work as a freelance writer, blogger and editor, this has opened a lot of doors of opportunity for me even before I thought of knocking. An open mind is a wonderful thing to have. ”
“We’re never too old to set another goal, dream another dream” Focus and take action. Dreaming is great, but action is what makes it happen. Be prepared to work for what you want with discipline. If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask. And if you have an opportunity to help someone, grab it.
Celebrate the little things. Aka – live mindfully. “What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare?” A happy mind and healthy body are essential ingredients of a fulfilled life. Take steps to relax and play! And don’t forget to nurture your relationships and nourish your soul!

Believe you are enough in all areas of your life and create a daily self love routine. Start by standing in from of the mirror and saying: I really love you and look into your eyes. Decide what you want your life to be like, and emulate those who are already living like that. This is such a simple principle but it doesn’t seem to occur to a lot of people. If you want to be an entrepreneur, find out how successful entrepreneurs pull it off, and do it like that. There’s no reason to re-invent the wheel. Your own personal style will emerge on its own. The how-to information is all out there.
Learn to be frugal. Most people waste most of their money, and it limits their options and reduces their quality of life. Read everything you can on Mr Money Mustache and Early Retirement Extreme. It will empower you like nothing else.
Realize that you will never be happy doing irrelevant work, unless you truly have no choice. I believe nobody gets away with doing work that’s meaningless to them, unless they really have no other options. If you have a chance to do meaningful work and you don’t make it happen, it will eat away at you until you act on it.
Make a plan to move towards work that you find satisfying to do. It is more important than almost everything else in life. It doesn’t matter if it takes five years or ten years or twenty years, simply moving towards it is a great feeling.

The first step I would give to anyone who wants to follow their dream is to learn as much as they can about personal development, and those wonderful universal laws that affect our life so much, such as the law of attraction, the law of allowing and what does it mean to create a resistance to what we want. If you don’t know about these things they may very well stand between you and your dream.
The second tip I would give is to write down precisely what you want to achieve. Write down each of your goals as specifically as possible. The more specific you are the better and faster the results. It’s very powerful to write down your dream, because it makes it more real too.
Learn more about yourself. Learn more about your “subconscious programming, so if there is anything that may stand between you and your goals, you’ll be able to pinpoint it and fix the problem as its root in order to reach out your dream.

Understand that you have the opportunity to make the choice each and every day. I begin my day by claiming the intention: “Today I choose to look for the positive aspects in everyone and everything”. I love to share positive messages on my Facebook Page. AND I believe that anyone or anything that shows up in my experience which appears unpleasant or challenging, is there to provide me with a greater awareness of something I need to look at within that needs some healing, some attention or perhaps a bit of tweaking.
Everything in my environment is a mirror of my own making and how wonderful that I can count on things coming along to show me what I need to know so that I can “take care of business” on my path of growth and expansion.
Consider the insight that there are only two real emotions from which all feelings are born; love and fear. When we choose to live from the energy of love in all we think, say and do, then we are poised to respond to the experiences of life from a place of confidence and empowerment. When we are in fear, we react to life and make choices coming from desperation, stress, force, etc. We cannot always control what is going on around us, but we always have control over our response or reaction to life. Our true power lies in the choices we make each and every day.
Be persistent, committed and determined to do what it takes to align yourself with what uplifts, inspires, thrills and delights you on your path of creating a JOY-filled, happy life. It’s all about taking self-responsibility for making the necessary changes and following through with faith and trust that all is unfolding as it needs to for growing your soul with grace and ease in the best possible way!

Don’t look to add more to your life. Look to cut down to the essentials, which gives you freedom.
With that freedom, take risks. Don’t bet your house on red in roulette, do things like ask people for things they’ll probably say “no” to, but that you really want—jobs, advice, help, and anything else that brings you closer to your dream life. Start a business. Write a book. The greatest rewards don’t come from playing it safe.
Reach your dreams by leveraging the power of small steps. I’ve used mini habits to get in the best shape of my life (do one push-up a day), write an international bestselling book (my book, “Mini Habits,” was written with a mini habit of writing 50 words per day), and read more books (read two pages per day). Consistency is the foundation of habits, and habits are the foundation for success in any area. Dreams don’t happen all at once.

Identify your top 3 values. In order to live your amazing life, you must live your own authentic life. Rich and famous might feel good for a short while, but, if you’re not living your core values in the process, it won’t make you happy for long. Once you identify your core values, every future decision you make will be much easier.
When your intuition speaks, LISTEN and ACT on it. Your intuition knows what you need and will guide you in that direction, if you listen. When you get a feeling or a message that you feel that you need to follow, follow it and see where it leads you. If you don’t follow it, those feelings and messages will get stronger and you’ll either end up following them anyway, or you’ll be miserable and possibly sick while you keep them stuffed down.
Keep stepping out of your comfort zone and having more amazing experiences. If you want your life to be more than it is today, you have to be more than you are today. You have think, feel and act differently. That means getting out of your comfort zone and doing something that feels uncomfortable on a regular basis.
Life is a series of experiences and experiments that only have the meaning you give them. Failure (and most negative emotions) only exists when you set expectations and those expectations aren’t met. Why not let go of expectations and be present to the gifts that arrive along the way?
Steve Bloom Dosomethingcool.net
Almost all obstacles are mental. Excuses. Procrastination. Self-doubt. They’re all products of the mind. If you can get a handle on the inner workings of your mind, you’ll set yourself up for success in just about anything. It’s been my experience that some of the biggest obstacles to realizing your dreams is nothing more than a battle between what you think you can’t do vs. what you really can.
Have faith in yourself. Getting the life you want requires a lot of strength and faith in your actions. The dreams we set may seem too far off into the distance to actually achieve. But those who have faith in themselves will keep finding the courage to continue.
Expect to feel fear – it’s a good thing Fear is not something to avoid. It’s something you should aim for. Fear is necessary for the biggest dreams because they’re the ones that take the biggest risks. Think of it like a roller coaster. It might freak you out a little while you’re doing it, but once you’ve reached the end, you’ll feel more alive than you’ve ever been. Plus, you’ll be grateful you did it.

Get inspired. To live your life to the fullest, you need to expand your mind regarding what is possible. My favorite way to do this is reading the stories of great people. They will inspire you to dream bigger.
Take risks. Living your dream life requires taking risks. You need to move out of your comfort zone. You might also need to deal with failures along the way.
Be persistent. It may take years of effort to live your dream life, so be persistent.
Jo Casey Jocasey.com
Firstly – really think about what your dream life consists of at it’s core. So often we mistake the ‘stuff’ for the feeling we want. E.g When I’m earning $x then I’ll be able to feel secure – when in fact feeling secure is what you’re wanting, not the money (and there are lots of ways of getting that feeling that aren’t connected to money.)
Examine your values – knowing what’s really important to you is key to knowing where to place your attention. For a long time I thought that being seen as successful was important to me – but over the years I’ve realized that achievement and ‘success’ in the eyes of others isn’t nearly as important to me as family, connection, freedom and love. I’ve seen way too many people pursue goals based on what they think they value, only to find those things don’t give them the sense of fulfillment they crave.
Finally, learning to be present in my life has made an enormous difference to feeling connected and happy (my definition of a dream life) – practicing tuning into the here and now allows me to connect with how I’m feeling and what I’m really wanting and means I can be far more strategic and deliberate (and a lot less reactive) in my decision making. If you can learn to be present, you can tune into what you really want, and calmly make decisions on how to get there.
3 Keys to Living the Dream:
If you want a dream life, you must possess the “3 F’s,” — Focus, Faith and Fervor.
Focus. Success is not the result of “hocus, pocus,” you got to have focus. You must have focus, to the exclusion of everything else. You have to focus, until the picture of where you’re going is crystal clear.
Faith. You have to believe, if you ever hope to achieve. You have to believe it, if you ever want to receive it. You have to be the first convert — on your mission; you have to believe in the beauty of your dreams.
Fervor. Do you have fervor? Are you passionate? Les Miles would say, “Are you hungry?” You have to be hungry to succeed. You have to be hungry to create the life of your dreams.
Once you have the fervor, the focus, and the faith, …your dream life will await.
Harleena Singh Aha-now.com
Clarity – Be very clear about who you are, what you need, what you want to do, and what you can do. Lack of clarity will result in lack of understanding and focus, which will make you waste your time and energy.
Zero-in on deciding and defining your dream life.
Passion – Dream, think, and live your dream life. Desire and make it a part of you and your life. Plan and make efforts to know more about your dream life. Learn, change, and develop as required.
Be clear and passionate about the life you dream of, so it looks live even in your dreams.
Action – If you don’t get down to doing it, your plane of plans will never take off. Be smart in making your choices and work hard to come closer to your defined targets – short goals with a long reach. Give-in your complete self, patiently and with perseverance, having hope and being determined.
Believe strongly in yourself and your dreams. Keep working for it day in and night.
If you do not follow the CPA plan, your dream life will remain a dream.

Tip #1: Believe in Yourself
A HUGE part of co creating a life you really want, one you dream about starts with believing you are worthy of this kind of life. One of the biggest obstacles that prevent us from living our lives with passion and fully is self-doubt
Self-doubt is often made worse when we compare ourselves to others. There is no such thing as perfection, it’s another way we stop believing in ourselves when we ‘fail’. Fail is First.Attempt.In.Learning , that is how we grow, so do not be afraid of it, embrace it.
You deserve to be your own best friend, so start trying to figure out how you can do that. How would you treat your best friend? Would you say all the negative, critical things you say to yourself to them? Lovingly accept yourself as you are right now and each day set the intention that you ARE WORTHY.
Tip #2: Stop Listening to Toxic People & Change your Habits
- Surround yourself with like-minded, supportive and passionate people who can both inspire you and bring out the best in you.
- Look for new friends who are interested in your dream. Start saying no to things that will lead you away from your goals, your dream life.
- Become aware of your counterproductive habits like the words you choose to speak to yourself.
Tip #3: Really understand that you always have a choice
Life doesn’t happen to us, we consciously (or unconsciously) choose everything in our own life. For example, when something awful happens to you do you blame someone else or decide you are a victim? Or do you recognize that you actually get to choose how to respond to the situation? We always have choices and doing nothing is still a choice. We are 100% responsible for our lives.

Ask for guidance, help, clarity and support from your own Soul... from God and from life itself. How? Through conversations with your own Self, through meditation, journaling, prayer.
Let go of fixed plans and concepts. Be flexible and trust that once you get on the right path, life will constantly guide you.
Don’t make it about yourself and what can you get, make it about service, about people, about the world around you and what can you give.

Firstly, you need to have CLARITY on what your dream life actually is. This might sound really simple, but it’s actually very hard to define for many people – myself included. Sure, a dream life might be to live in a big house next to the beach with a loving partner and few work commitments.
However, you need to get clear on HOW you’re going to create and service that dream life. That is, you need to define what you will be doing that you’re passionate about AND can earn an income from to service that lifestyle.
Secondly, you need DESIRE. You need to have a burning passion within you to move towards your dream life. Yes, most people do have a dream life, but few people realize that life because they lack the desire to actually get there… and when I say desire, it’s about taking a totally disciplined approach, hard work-ethic and massive action to actually make it a reality. Most people lack the work-ethic or discipline for their dream life to become a reality.
Thirdly, you need BELIEF. When you have clarity you’re well on your way. When you have clarity+desire you have a much greater chance of succeeding. But what really cements your approach to realising your dream life is when you add belief.
You need to have the belief that you can actually achieve your dream life. If you don’t have the belief, you will unconsciously (or consciously) sabotage your efforts and keep yourself in your comfort zone.
Clarity+Desire+Belief is an ultimate recipe of success. This, coupled with massive action will take you to anywhere you want to go.
Your Dreams are YOUR dreams. Nobody has the power to deflate their presence without your permission. Remember one thing: You already have everything within you. So, make a brave move and follow your dreams in a free manner.
